Zydus Cadila to reduce its COVID-19 vaccine price to Rs 265 a dose

Zydus Cadila has agreed to reduce the price of its COVID-19 vaccine to Rs 265 a dose after constant negotiations by the government. A final deal is still awaited, stated sources.

Zydus COVID-19 vaccine, called ZyCov-D, is the first jab authorized by Indias drug regulator for use in people aged 12 years and above. This needle-free vaccine needs to be administered with the help of a disposable painless jet applicator. This applicator costs Rs 93 and is required for each dose. This would take the price of the vaccine to Rs 358 per dose. 

The company had earlier proposed a price of Rs 1,900 for its three-dose regimen, revealed sources. The three doses have to be administered at an interval of 28 days… (ET Healthworld – PTI, November 1, 2021)
